Over the
first week of May, introductory courses for teachers of Sunday School some
different points of the country. At Lavastida Center of Santiago de Cuba and at
the National Camp of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Santa Clara (CANIP)
was offered the course “Knowledge of the History of the Church”
given by Professor

los desafíos de la Cuba de hoy” (Prophets of a hope: some preachings for
the challenge at the present Cuba), written by the professor of the

UNFORGETTABLE WEEK FOR THE RAINBOW PROJECT
In
the framework of the one-week school break and also for Cuban celebration of
the Mother’s Day, a program of activities for the children took place
from 5th to 10th May, supported by the Rainbow Project
set aside for the children who participate in this program. This time the SET
workers’ children were added.
The
aim of these activities was to offer a time for the assimilation of the group
and the strengthening of the Christian ethical values and to develop abilities
through games.
Every
morning, from 9:00 to 1:00 AM, the children attended an Art Workshop, given by
renowned artists of
In
the afternoon, they had a time of games and judo’s lessons, taught by the
Swiss teacher Juliane Robra and each afternoon, they completed the day with a
varied program, consisting of: a party with their mothers, a clown show,
presentation and sale of books by the writer Loreley Rebull who enchanted them
with her fantastic short-stories for children. They also worked together with
professors and family relatives cleaning the grass off the flowerbeds of the
vegetable garden. They enjoyed at the children park at Monserrate, in the
highest point of the city. On Friday, they participated and leaded the liturgy
they offered to all the mothers of the community: they reciting poems, singing
and praying at the chapel “La Resurrection” at SET. On Saturday,
this week was closed, enjoying, together with their parents, a trip to the
entertainment
The
children of the community, professors of the project, students, professors and
faculty of the SET, appreciate to all bothers and sisters who, from near and
from a distance, support this project which bears as a symbol the colors of the
promise that God, the Light of world, will light our hope.

1st to 3rd, brothers and sisters from the Presbyterian
Church of Peachtree visited the Seminary and accomplished a very hard program
with the aim of sharing the academic and community life of the SET. This church
throughout the years has cooperated and has kept a fraternal brotherhood with
the SET and Presbyterian churches in

On
May 26th, a delegation from the First Baptist Church of Greenville,
South Carolina, visited the SET, together with the leaders of the Fraternity of
Baptist Churches. After a moment speaking with the Director Reinerio Arce, they
share a time with the students and professors. Then, they made a journey
through the Cuban churches.
FOURTH MEETING OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION BACHELOR COURSE
4th
to 9th May, the fourth meeting of Christian Education Bachelor
Course at the SET. This time the students worked the subject “An
Introduction to the Bible” taught by Professor

SIXTH MEETING OF THEOLOGY BACHELOR COURSE
12th
to 16th May, the sixth meeting of the program of studies of Theology
Bachelor Course for non-resident students took place at SET. This program has keep
the same registering list of 25 students and in this meeting, they were taught
the subject “An Introduction to the Theology” given by Dr. Reinerio
Arce Valentin; “History of Israel” taught by Master
THIRD MEETING OF THE MASTERY PROGRAM
The
third meeting of the Mastery Program of the academic year 2007-2008 took place
19th to 30th May 2008 at the Seminary. In this occasion, the
students had the subjects “Anthropology and Exegesis of the Gospel of
St.John” taught by Master

the Ethics as Moral Philosophy is, what the Ethics as behavior is, a

and incorporation to the moral process of the Human beings.

have enjoyed a lot the quality and the warm of the people I have met at SET.
The students of the mastery are very concerned and they really are thirsty for
knowledge and those are the values: “to develop the motivations”
MEETING OF THE PROGRAM “COMMUNITY LIFE AND HEALTH”
OF THE CHURCHES COUNCIL OF
26th
to 29th May, the meeting the program “Life and Health”
of the Churches Council of Cuba was held at SET. Lay people and pastors
participated in it. They came from the following churches: Free Evangelical
Church, Soldiers of the Cross, the New Pines, Reformed Presbyterian, Good News,
Adventists, Baptist Churches Fraternity, Nazarene, Lutheran, Apostolic of Jesus
Christ, Evangelical Pentecostal “The Light of World”, First
Pentecostal Church of Cuba, the Quaker Friends, Christian Agrarian Brotherhood
and Episcopal.

WORKSHOP ON SPIRITUALITY OF RESISTANCE, LIBERATION AND
TRANSFORMATION
May
15th to 20th, the workshop on Spirituality of Resistance,
Liberation and Transformation took place in our Seminary, summoned by the World
Alliance of the Reformed Churches (WARC) and the World Council of Churches
(WCC). The workshop counted on the presence of more than 20 Christians and
non-Christians participants coming from North America,
South
America, Africa and the

the main aims of the event, there was the necessity of re-conceptualize the
meaning of spirituality and what kind of spirituality we need to foster today.
The subject was focused from a critical view which condemned the imperialists
