These students took a course in different subjects of study
and very moved, they turned in not only an ample vision of their respective
seminaries, but their own lives as students, without failing to mention those
Cuban experiences that they will take with them to their respective schools.

HEBREW LETTERS
Last Wednesday, May 10, the library of the
Seminary opened its doors to all interested in knowing about the mystical meaning
of the Hebrew letters or the wisdom of the color in the work of Ruud Bartlema,
painter and Dutch theologian. This activity was organized by Dutch professor
Wil Arts in order to show the final works of the “Spirituality and
Art” course, and expose this Dutch painter's work. The inauguration finalized with

The students Wanda and Alison, after scrutinizing wittily
the pictorial work of the artist on the Hebrew alphabet's ninth letter, the
teth, expressed respectively: “Genesis, creation, deluge of fertilities that
emerge of the spiral of life. In the center, the latent seed of humanity and
around it a great many of found energy.”

Colina who finished his studies at the SET and passed the exams to obtain his
Licenciado degree in Theology stated that: “ the
Seminary
has given me the tools to be able to put all of the biblical theological
contents that I have received for four years of study into practice. It is an inspiring place,
where one finds all of the spirituality that encourages us to develop our
pastoral vocation. Studies
are a constant discovery of those inspirations here, because as well as
happiness and joy motivate us, also the moments of difficulties and
crisis help us to grow; As
a little plant does that wishes to sprout from the stones, with the greatest
purpose to see the light of the sun.”

PURE INTENTION AND COURAGE IN
60 YEARS. 1946-2006. III
We have previously talked about how the SET was
enlarging his academic range of action, however, there was a constant concern,
there was no place for worship, essential for the Christian practice.
The Board of Directors of our Institution, in 1948, aimed at
constructing an own place of prayer, since the Methodist and Presbyterian
churches in the city were normally used. Thus a pro-chapel Central Committee
and also a pro-Seminary Cuban Fund were created.
Unity was necessary to participate in this educational Christian
work . A new stage, cash donations for the purchase of
lands together with the founding churches, a designed curriculum adapted to the
denominational characteristics, a lot of collaboration in activities and
professors, were achievements that laid the foundation for longings of
the evangelical community .
This period was very important for the SET, the hill was
covered with the spring of hope that would embody us all and would give us more
strength to achieve the necessary work: A Worship place.
In 1955 the Seminary was full of blessings, immersed in a
greater constructive process, what we longed for was a reality: Our chapel.
April 9, 1955 honorable Alexander Hugo
Blankingship, President of the Board of Director of the SET, the foundation placed
the first stone of what would be the Resurrection
Chapel. It was an ecumenical celebration, full of
inspiration. The Cosntruction process was very hard, all,
workers and students concentrated on the work that would give the Seminary the
possibility to adore God in its premises.
Reverend Raúl Fernández Ceballos, at his section
“Evangelicos” on the World newspaper published in October 4
1955:
The
total cost of the building that will be dedicated to chapel is thirty
thousand pesos. The Episcopal church
contributed twenty five thousand, the rest five thousand pesos were given
by Mr. And Mrs. Dysart, members of the English congregation of the Episcopal
Cathedral from Vedado.
The
Resurrection chapel is a memorial for the pioneers of the Gospel in
The inauguration was celebrated on Friday December 16, 1955,
with a program of worshiping and thanksgiving, in its first worship directed by
doctor Humberto Carrazana Lazo, vice-president of the Board of Directors.
In this newspaper section dated 10/ 1956
reviewed this act:
“
There was a part of the program in which the Missionary Boards and their
representatives expressed their opinion of the celebrated act and the
significance of the inauguration that came into effect.”
The recently reconstructed Certificate of Consecration is
kept at the chapel in good condition.
